Lucifer Furnaces recently completed and shipped a custom-engineered 46GT-R48 gas-tight atmosphere oven for a leading manufacturer of industrial process control equipment. Designed specifically for nitrogen operation, this furnace combines Lucifer Furnaces proven gas-tight atmosphere furnace design with custom features engineered around the end user’s requirements.

Key Specifications:

    • MODEL: 46GT-R48
    • MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE: 1600°F
    • WORK CHAMBER: 24" H × 24" W × 48" L
    • PROCESS ATMOSPHERE: Nitrogen
    • DOOR: Double-Pivot
    • CONTROLS: Custom Control System in a Free-Standing Control Panel

This model is equipped with an alloy fan assembly and stainless-steel liner, providing a horizontal airflow pattern and uniform temperature throughout the chamber. The liner directs the airflow and baffles the heating elements from the work area.

Gas-Tight Atmosphere Design

A gas-tight furnace is designed for heat-treating processes that require a controlled atmosphere within the heated chamber. Lucifer Furnaces’ GT models use a positive flow of inert gas, such as nitrogen or argon, to create the desired processing environment. The environment provides a significantly better finish quality than an air chamber.

The furnace features a continuously welded shell, gasketed construction, and sealed fittings to support operation with an inert atmosphere. For this application, the system was specifically configured for nitrogen operation.

Customized for the Application

To meet the end user’s requirements, the furnace was supplied with a custom control system housed in a separate free-standing control panel, providing convenient access for the operator.

Every heat-treating process is different. Lucifer Furnaces partners with customers to develop equipment engineered specifically for their application, from chamber size and temperature requirements to atmosphere capabilities, controls, and other custom features.
